Derawan Archipelago & Kakaban

About this Destination

The Derawan Archipelago in the Celebes Sea consists of 31 islands, with Derawan, Kakaban, Sangalaki, and Maratua standing as world-class marine marvels. Kakaban is globally famous for its prehistoric landlocked marine lake containing four species of harmless stingless jellyfish that evolved without predators. Sangalaki is a sanctuary for giant manta rays and hawksbill turtles, while Maratua features dramatic vertical drop-offs with swirling schools of barracudas and hammerhead sharks.
