Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Balikpapan - Loa Janan - Mahakam River Cruise

Morning pick-up from Balikpapan hotel or airport. Drive to Loa Janan harbor in Samarinda to board our private wooden riverboat. Cruise up the Mahakam River, passing floating villages and traditional timber rafts. Relax on the upper viewing deck enjoying freshly cooked Indonesian meals as the sun sets over the river.

Day 2

Muara Muntai - Manjau Dayak - Lake Jempang - Tanjung Isuy

Arrive at Muara Muntai, an ancient wooden village built entirely on ironwood stilts. Transfer to motorized canoe to explore the vast waters of Lake Jempang, watching for water birds and rare freshwater dolphins. Visit Tanjung Isuy Dayak village to see traditional weaving and ancestral totems. Overnight on boat.

Day 3

Tenggarong Royal Museum - Samboja Orangutan - Balikpapan

Morning cruise to Tenggarong, former capital of the Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate. Visit the Royal Museum displaying royal heirlooms. Transfer by private car to Samboja Lestari to observe orangutans and sun bears before returning to Balikpapan.
