Borneo’s orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) are critically endangered. We adhere strictly to responsible wildlife watching guidelines: never feeding, keeping at least 10 meters distance, and supporting habitat reforestation.
Because orangutans share more than 97% of their genetic makeup with human beings, our illnesses can be fatal to them. Borneo Rimba Kalimantan enforces non-negotiable wildlife ethics across all operations:
Never approach an orangutan. If an animal moves toward you on the trail or wooden boardwalk, quietly step back and allow it to pass undisturbed.
Never eat, drink, or chew gum in the presence of primates. Human food causes deadly bacterial infections, dental decay, and destructive behavioral dependency.
If you have active symptoms of cold, influenza, COVID-19, or stomach viruses, you must inform your guide and refrain from forest treks to prevent primate contagion.
Flash lights startle wild animals and can cause mother orangutans to drop infants from canopy heights. Always disable camera flashes.
